The designers of this game seriously cared about accuracy, and it is usually pretty fun to tear around with stuff like Revolver Ocelot's gun or link's Hookshot and Boomerang outside of their series and with a new bullet hell twist. The Megahand And Heroine (arm cannons, Mega Man and Samus respectively) can both switch between firing modes, just like in their original games. As mentioned, these are extremely true to their series: the Hyper light blaster recharges it's shots if you don't miss. NES zapper and Hyper Light Blaster? The drifter's Zaliska. Megahand and wood decoy? Wood man's leaf shields. As an example, the arm cannons can change depending on bullet type: flame bullets and the power beam? Plasma beam. And, these weapons are in general very true to their series, as well. All the references / easter eggs Roughly 1 in 5 weapons in the game seem to be references to other games: The pistol from Hyper Light Drifter? A Duck Hunt NES light gun? Mega man or Samus' arm cannons? You name it.
